Innovators of Rotary Brush Technology in the mid 1990s, Wyma continue to lead the field with their Wyma Vege-Polisher™. 19 years on, Wyma has sold over 850 polishers in more than 40 countries around the globe for a variety of produce, including potatoes, carrots, swedes, celeriac, beetroot and parsnips.
So what is it exactly that makes Wyma Vege-Polisher™ different from other products on the market?
Wyma in-feed has immediate fall onto soft nylon brushes. The out-feed gate is a centre rotational gate, which allows produce to exit at the lowest possible position without any obstructions (such as central support beams or slip rings). The out-feed pathway on to a PVC belt significantly reduces produce damage/bruising.
Wyma brushes span the entire length of the drum and produce is free to flow through the polisher without getting caught in the valleys of the brushes. It also ensures 100% flow-through and quick turn-around of different varieties.
The proven Wyma power transmission belt design maintains the same rotational speed for all brushes and does not lose speed when loaded with produce. It delivers full power (typically 7.5kW) to the loaded brushes at all times, unlike other drive methods which experience inconsistence speeds and less than half the polishing capacity.
Steel trunnions provide positive and stable support, with no wear issues, unlike support belts that tend to stretch and break prematurely.
The Wyma Recycling System includes a wedge wire screen with rotary clearing brush, submersible pump, double tank system with baffle, and angled tanks with 4“ valves for excellent cleaning and waste removal.
All bearings are completely sealed and non-greasable (except for drum support rollers which are provided with a centralized greasing point). Sealed bearings are protected from environmental conditions and require less maintenance than exposed bearings.
Hygienic design standards and new laws require that oil from motor/gearboxes must not come into contact with food. Wyma machines have just two motors with a simple oil catchment tray which are located away from the drum to avoid any potential drips coming in contact with produce.
The out-feed of a Wyma Vege-Polisher™ is free of obstruction and electrical systems are located as far as possible from the drum to minimise chances of failure due to water ingress.
The evolving Wyma Vege-Polisher™ is proven to withstand daily use over time. Continuous improvement, based on experience and customer feedback, has kept Wyma competitive in the global market since export began in 2001.
